The rooftop at Hotel Rani Palace is a 3,000 square foot terrace looking out over Lake Fateh Sagar. It can be booked privately, for your event alone — you get the whole terrace, not a reserved corner of a working restaurant. It comfortably takes 100 to 150 guests, which makes it large enough for a full family function and small enough that it still feels like your evening rather than a hall you have been allotted.
It is a lake-view terrace at a working budget hotel, with 19 rooms and free outside parking.
If your gathering is smaller than this, say so and we will put you somewhere that suits it better. Our main dining hall seats 80 and the covered dining terrace takes 30 to 40 — both are on the restaurant page — and in-room dining runs 24 hours for guests staying with us.

The same terrace, set for the two families. The floor can be laid out so that the ceremony sits at the centre and the seating faces it, rather than running the length of a long room.

Daytime functions work well on the rooftop — there is room for seating along the edges while the middle stays clear for the ceremony.
Baby shower / godh bharai
A comfortable afternoon function for the family and close friends, with the lift for anyone who should not be climbing stairs.
Naming ceremony, annaprashan & first birthday
Small, family-heavy gatherings where the food matters more than the staging. Our kitchen is in the building, so it comes up hot.
Milestone birthdays (50th, 60th, 75th)
A milestone birthday with the extended family invited. The terrace takes 100 to 150 guests, so a large guest list does not have to be trimmed.
Office & college gatherings
Retirement dinners, farewells, freshers evenings and reunions. The terrace takes a standing crowd or a seated one.
Satyanarayan katha, havan & pooja
Our kitchen is 100% pure vegetarian and no alcohol is served anywhere on the property, so the terrace is available for a katha or a havan without any special arrangement.
Family get-togethers
No occasion needed. A large family that wants one long evening together and nowhere at home to put everybody.
Jamming & live music sessions
We host live music and jamming sessions on the rooftop. Tell us what you are bringing and how many people you expect.
Bhajan & kirtan gatherings
The rooftop is available for bhajan and kirtan gatherings. Seating can be laid out on the floor or on chairs, whichever your group prefers.
We also host simple vegetarian gatherings including prayer meets and religious ceremonies. Please call us to discuss what you need.
Pure vegetarian kitchen
Our kitchen is 100% pure vegetarian. We serve Indian, Rajasthani, Chinese and Continental dishes, and the same kitchen that serves the hotel restaurant caters events on the rooftop. For families and gatherings that require a strictly vegetarian kitchen, this is not an accommodation we make on request — it is the only way we cook.
Getting here & parking
Hotel Rani Palace is 200 metres from Fateh Sagar Lake — a five-minute walk. City Palace is 1.5 km away and Udaipur railway station is 4 km. There is free outside parking for guests, and a lift to the upper floors, so older family members and anyone carrying decorations or equipment do not have to manage the stairs.
Planning your event
- Decoration. Either way works. We can arrange the decoration for you in-house, or you are welcome to bring your own decorator and have them set up on the terrace.
- Cake. You are welcome to bring a cake in from outside.
- Food. Everything is prepared in our own pure vegetarian kitchen in the building, so it is served hot rather than trucked in.
- Access. Free outside parking, and a lift for older guests and for anyone carrying equipment or decorations up.
