For a small birthday — family, a few friends — we set up a table in the restaurant. You order from the regular menu.
The whole rooftop, privately
For a full birthday function, the entire 3,000 sq ft terrace can be booked for your party alone. It comfortably takes 100 to 150 guests, which is room for a large family birthday, a milestone birthday or a kids' party with the extended family invited.

Why a rooftop works for a birthday
The obvious reason is the view. The terrace looks out over Lake Fateh Sagar, and in the hour before sunset the light does most of the decorating for you. Photographs taken up here do not need a backdrop hired in.
The less obvious reason is the floor area. At 3,000 square feet there is room between the tables for children to move around without the seating being disturbed, and the layout can leave the middle clear rather than filling it with tables.
The third reason is unglamorous: the kitchen is on site. Food does not travel across the city in a van and arrive lukewarm.
Evening or afternoon both work — an afternoon function finishes before dark, and an evening one has the lake lit behind it. Tell us which you want and we will suggest the layout that fits.
Pure vegetarian kitchen
A birthday guest list is the most mixed list you will ever host — grandparents, teenagers and small children, all at one table. Our kitchen cooks Indian, Rajasthani, Chinese and Continental, so the eight-year-old who only wants noodles and the grandmother who wants dal baati are both catered for out of the same kitchen, and nobody has to be told what they cannot have.
Our kitchen is 100% pure vegetarian. We serve Indian, Rajasthani, Chinese and Continental dishes, and the same kitchen that serves the hotel restaurant caters events on the rooftop. For families and gatherings that require a strictly vegetarian kitchen, this is not an accommodation we make on request — it is the only way we cook.
Cake and decoration
You are welcome to bring a cake in from outside. If there is a bakery you want the cake to come from, bring it — we have no interest in getting between you and that.
Decoration works either way. We can arrange it for you in-house, which is the simpler route if you would rather hand the whole evening over and turn up. Or you can bring your own decorator and let them set up on the terrace — the lift means balloons, backdrops and props go up without a stairwell fight.
Tell us which of the two you want when you message us, along with roughly when your decorator would need access, and we will hold the terrace for them.
Staying over
Guests travelling in for your event can stay at the hotel. We have 19 rooms, all air-conditioned, with free WiFi and free outside parking.

Hotel Rani Palace is 200 metres from Fateh Sagar Lake — a five-minute walk. City Palace is 1.5 km away and Udaipur railway station is 4 km. There is free outside parking for guests, and a lift to the upper floors, so older family members and anyone carrying decorations or equipment do not have to manage the stairs.
