A Pure Veg Hotel in Udaipur, With No Alcohol on the Property
A 100% vegetarian kitchen and no alcohol anywhere on the property
What “pure veg hotel” means at Hotel Rani Palace
It means two things, and both of them apply to the whole building rather than to one corner of it. The kitchen is 100% pure vegetarian. And there is no alcohol anywhere on the property. Those are not menu options you have to ask for; they are simply how the hotel runs.
A lot of hotels in Udaipur say they have vegetarian food. That is a different promise from a vegetarian kitchen. Here there is only one kind of food cooked, so there is nothing for you to check at the table, and nothing to explain to an older relative who would rather not eat in a place that also serves meat.
It also means the rule does not change with the way you eat. Breakfast in the dining hall, a late dinner from room service and a cup of tea after a day out all come from the same kitchen, under the same rule. There is no point in your stay where the answer is different.
A family choosing a hotel for its kitchen is usually not looking for anything elaborate. They want three ordinary meals a day they do not have to worry about, an evening without a bar downstairs, and a clean, air-conditioned room. That is what this page is about. If your question is specifically about Jain food, the Jain food page answers it in full.
An alcohol-free building, all day and all evening
There is no bar and no drinks list. Alcohol is not served in the restaurant, on the rooftop or in the rooms. That shapes what the hotel feels like after dark more than anything else we could tell you: the evenings here are about dinner, the rooftop and an early night before a day out.
It suits families travelling with children and grandparents, groups on a temple visit, and anyone who would simply prefer a hotel where nobody is drinking in the corridor. It does not suit everyone, and we say that plainly: if you want a drink on a terrace at the end of the day, you will be happier at a hotel that offers one.
For parents, the practical effect is simple. The corridors, the dining hall and the rooftop are the same in the evening as they are at lunchtime, and nobody has to plan the children’s evening around a bar, because there is not one.
The rooftop is open to guests staying with us, and it is where the lake view is. None of the rooms has a lake view — they have a balcony, a garden view or a city view — but Fateh Sagar Lake is 200 m from the front door. More on that is on our hotel near Fateh Sagar Lake page.
Three vegetarian meals a day, and what they cost
| Meal | Per person |
|---|---|
| Breakfast | ₹250 |
| Lunch | ₹400 |
| Dinner | ₹400 |
5% GST is added to meal prices as well — a ₹400 thali comes to ₹420. Every price on this page is before GST.
The restaurant runs 7:00 AM - 10:30 PM, and dinner is served from 6:00 PM. The indoor dining hall is air-conditioned and seats 25 guests, so it is a small, family-sized room rather than a banquet floor.
Room service runs round the clock, which helps on the night you arrive late or when a child is already asleep. The full menu stops at 10:30 PM, so order before then if you want the whole choice. Everything on the menu, and more about the space, is on the restaurant page.
If someone in the family eats Jain
Proper Jain food — no onion, no garlic, no root vegetables — is available on request. Tell us when you book, and say how many of you need it. The exact rule we cook to, what that leaves out, and how to ask are all on our Jain food in Udaipur page, so we will not repeat it here.

The rest of a family stay
We are a 19-room, 2-star hotel. All the rooms are air-conditioned and every one has a king bed, across all three categories. Reception is staffed 24 hours. The rooms, with photographs, are on the rooms page.
Check-in is 12:00 PM and check-out is 10:00 AM. If you are arriving after a long drive or an overnight train, there is always someone at the desk, and room service is running. If you are coming by air or rail, we can arrange a local taxi to meet you at the airport, 25 km away, or the railway station, 4 km away; you pay the driver directly.
Jagdish Temple is 1.5 km away, in the same old-city cluster as City Palace. What else is close by, and how far, is on Explore Udaipur.
If you are driving in, parking is free for the whole stay and a driver travelling with you sleeps free in a dormitory; the details are on our hotel with driver accommodation page, and the drive itself on Ahmedabad to Udaipur.
